ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A former neighbor of a Lake James woman has been arrested in connection with her murder.
Steuben County Sheriff Rodney Robinson has announced that 29-year-old Matthew Roland Hoover of Anderson, Indiana has been arrested in connection with the homicide of 82 year old Wilma Ball on June 23rd, 2021.
She was killed in her home at 395 Lane 200 East in rural Pleasant Township.
Robinson says in a news release issued by the Sheriff’s Department the arrest took place “through extensive investigative efforts and DNA analysis.”
Hoover was taken into custody in Anderson just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
He was later brought back to Angola by Sheriff’s detectives following an interview and booked into the Steuben County Jail on a preliminary charge of Murder.
Hoover is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
The investigation is still ongoing and additional criminal charges may be sought.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office with the apprehension were the Indiana State Police and Anderson Police.
