COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With heat index readings expected to be between the upper 90s and 105 on Tuesday, Branch County and surrounding counties are included in a heat advisory that has been issued by the National Weather Service.
The advisory will be in effect from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. and it covers portions of southwest Michigan, northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to take place.
Residents are being advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
