UNDATED (WTVB) – In the second significant player-caddie split of the summer, Rory McIlroy has fired his caddie of nearly a decade. McIlroy and J.P. Fitzgerald had worked together for the past nine years, with McIlroy winning four major championships and reaching No. 1 in the world, but he will replace Fitzgerald with his best friend at the Bridgestone Invitational and PGA Championship. In June, Phil Mickelson split with his caddie of 25 years, Jim ”Bones” Mackay.
