DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A massive amount of Michigan residents are without power, in the heat and humidity, according to the latest outage maps from the main three energy providers in the state.
Crews from several other states will be in Michigan today to help crews restore power following several rounds of severe weather this week. NBC meteorologist Bill Karins says Michigan has been the hardest hit state in the Midwest during the storm outbreaks this week when it comes to power outages this week.
“We still have almost 1,000,000 people without power in areas, and Michigan has especially been hit really hard. 750,000 without power all night long. Imagine not having power or air conditioning in this heat and humidity. That’s what they have been dealing with here.”
Consumers Energy says nearly 450 crews will be working around the clock to restore power with help from the reinforcements from other states to help with the work. But every time more storms move through, it puts the work on hold, and more storms are expected Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, they urge residents who come across downed lines to keep their distance and make a report by calling 800-477-5050.
