SAUGATUCK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 51 year old woman who went missing in Lake Michigan near Saugatuck Saturday night was found drowned Sunday morning.
Mary Claire Dice-Grooters of Grandville, Michigan was reported missing around 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14. Allegan County police responded to the report at the approximate location about a mile north of the Saugatuck Pier Head.
The Allegan County Dive Team determined the victim had been swimming from a boat without a life jacket and had failed to resurface. Search and recovery efforts were suspended after several hours due to darkness.
Emergency crews located Dice-Grooters at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
