KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman was injured Sunday afternoon when a golf cart operated by a young child rolled over on Dragon Shores Drive and West Copeland Road in Kinderhook Township.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler said in a news release issue by the department that the crash which was reported at 2:46 p.m. injured 33-year-old Heather Wheaton.
She was treated by Life Care Ambulance and Lakeland Fire Rescue and was later taken to the emergency room at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Eichler says Wheaton was cited for allowing her seven-year-old daughter to operate the golf cart. Kinderhook Township has not passed an exemption to a state law banning unlicensed drivers from operating golf carts on public roads.
There were two adults and three children on the golf cart at the time. An adult male suffered minor injuries. None of the children were injured.
