COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between 25 and 50 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered no contest pleas to two counts of criminal sexual conduct.
69-year-old Dennis Roger Watson original faced ten charges involving child sex crimes before entering into a plea bargain with Branch County Prosecutors.
Watson entered his pleas to charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct with an underage girl as well as to a count of second degree C.S.C..
In exchange for his pleas, prosecutors dismissed eight other charges against Watson.
Watson was given the 25 to 50 year sentence on the first degree count and a concurrent sentence of 57 months to 15 years on for C.S.C. second degree.
He was given credit for 222 days already served in jail.
Watson was charged following a Michigan State Police investigation into crimes which prosecutors say took place over a period of at least eight years.
Branch County Prosecutors originally filed five counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct against Watson along with three first degree C.S.C. counts.
He also faced charges of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer in the commission of a crime.
