DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Jo Adell hammered a grand slam as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Tigers 8-2 in Detroit last night.
Adell blew the game open in the ninth, with his bases-clearing blast. He broke a 2-2 tie, then was followed by a solo shot from Kurt Suzuki. Mike Mayers picked up his third win in relief, tossing two scoreless frames. The Angels have won two of their last three.
Jonathan Schoop had two hits and an RBI for Detroit, which has lost three of its last four. Gregory Soto took his third loss, allowing six late runs.
Miguel Cabrera will continue his pursuit of his 500th career home run tonight after going 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday’s game.
