DETROIT, MI (WKZO-AM/FM) – Indianapolis scored 18 unanswered fourth quarter points to defeat Detroit 27-17 at Ford Field. The Lions held a 14-9 halftime lead and led 17-9 at the end of the third quarter, but finished 0-3 in the preseason.
Quarterback Jared Goff did not see any action for Detroit. In the battle of backup QBs, David Blough was 13/21 for 117 yards and an interception, while Tim Boyle was 7/9 for 63 yards and a TD pass to Quintez Cephus. Godwin Igwebuike had a rushing touchdown, and Zane Gonzalez kicked a 22-yard field goal.
Detroit hosts San Francisco on September 12th to open up the regular season.
