BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers won their Big 8 Conference opener on Thursday night as they defeated Branch County rival Quincy 28-8.
Terrance Morgan Junior led the Chargers with 77 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Landyn Crance threw a 23 yard TD pass to Brayton Mears. Garrett Iobe scored a defensive touchdown on a 51 yard fumble return. Iobe also recorded 16 tackles on defense.
Landon Kelley scored the only touchdown for Quincy. Kelley finished with 113 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Meanwhile, Bronson won their first game of the season as they defeated Springport 50-43 in their Big 8 Conference opener.
The Vikings led 14-6 at halftime. The second half featured plenty of offense as the two teams combined for 73 points. The game was tied 28-28 after three quarter before the Vikings outscored the Spartans 22-15 in the final stanza.
