COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Now that the hard work ofr the Christmas Feeding Branch County project is complete, volunteers at the Branch Area Food Pantry got the chance to say thank you to the couple that has been leading the effort to feed the hungry in Branch County. Pat and Dick Straw of Coldwater, who took over management of the food pantry on the death of Deacon Al Provot, have now officially retired fom their managerial duties.
The couple was honored at a retirement party at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, hosted by their fellow volunteers at the pantry. A number of other volunteers, led by Food Pantry Board Chairman Greg Miller and board member Tim Hart, will be coordinating the activities of the pantry after the first of the year.
The pantry is closed for it’s traditional holiday break until January 5, 2016. The pantry, staffed entirely by volunteers, distributes food Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
