MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Legg Middle School 7th grade A volleyball team competed in the Marshall tournament on Saturday and defeated Parma Western in the finals to win the tournament. Coldwater opened pool play with Battle Creek Lakeview 15-25 23-25 25-22 they then played Pennfield 25-15 25-9 16-25 to go 3-3 in pool play.
In bracket play Coldwater opened with Lakeview defeating the Spartans 12-25 25-21 15-10. In the semi-finals Coldwater defeated Harper Creek 25-19 25-14. In the finals the lady Cardinals defeated Parma Western 17-24 25-15 23-21 to win the championship.
On the day Coldwater was lead by Brooklyn Closson at the service line 57-65 followed by T.K. Boyd 59-68, Juliana Cowles 39-42, Khloe Wohlgamuth 29-32, Katie Senyk 23-32, Isabella Angevine 20-25, Aubrey Gebbink 9-20. In the backrow Coldwater was lead by Cowles with 23 digs followed by Senyk 19 digs, Closson 13 digs, Boyd 12 digs, Angevine 11 digs, Wohlgamuth 6 digs, Camryn Cockrell & Khloe Tyler 4 digs each & 3 digs for Suri Stout. Boyd with 23 kills, Closson 16 kills, Senyk 9 kills, Cowles 3 kills, Angevine 2 kills & Stout 1 kill paced the lady Cardinals.
