COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners agreed to form a subcommittee on Tuesday to analyze the needs of the Sheriff’s Department.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack has asked Commissioners to consider several requested 2021 budget items that were put on hold at the first of the year with the promise they would be reviewed mid-year.
Vehicles, boats, equipment and training were among the items requested items at a cost of $376,000. The Sheriff re-prioritized the list which cut the final amount to $243,000.
Commissioner Tom Mathew said there was a meeting between County Administrator Bud Norman and Pollack last Friday and they had put together a conceptual plan.
Commissioner Tim Stoll said he wanted to see a joint effort on recommendations not only on capital items but other requests from the Sheriff concerning more deputies and higher wages.
