Dawn L. Lanford, 72, of Coldwater, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at her home with her family and her dogs by her side.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Jim Erwin from Bethel Gilead Church officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and again Saturday, prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Dawn was born June 23, 1949 in Flint, MI to the late Ernest & Mary Ann (Hobbs) Burtrum. She married Dr. Ronald N. Lanford on October 17, 1992 in Union City.
Mrs. Lanford was a dental hygienist for several local dentists, lastly for Drs. Krutsch & Loehr. From 1995-2012, she was the office manager for the Care Center Hospital for Animals in Coldwater.
Dawn loved her family, her dogs, and chocolate ice cream. She was a true animal lover and was instrumental in helping to establish Animal Aid of Branch County. Her beloved dogs held a very special place in her heart, and Ty Cobb was the only dog that didn’t like her. She was unique in her creativity in many ways, including teaching china painting. Dawn cherished her friends and loved morning coffee with the ladies at Northwood’s.
Dawn is survived by her husband Ron, her son Ricky Burtrum of Coldwater, her brother Timothy Burtrum of Clarkston, sister-in-law Teresa Burtrum of Davison, her grandchildren Brett Burtrum (Hannah Hoover) of Bronson and Zachary Burtrum of Coldwater; her aunt Glenna Hobbs of Spruce; her cousin Terry Ann Eastman of Spruce; and very close friends Marilyn Zabonick and Bente Howe. She had many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother Danny Burtrum and close friend Ruth Brown.
