COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Angel Tree has again spread its branches across Branch County this Christmas season thanks to the generosity of employees of Coldwater Walmart Distribution Center 6043. Needy families have been adopted by the workers with 28 departments at the facility each purchasing gifts of food and other necessity items as well as presents to make the holiday special for those who otherwise would be doing without.
The recipients in this 9th year of the Angel Tree program are 7 individuals and or families under the care of CHC Hospice of Branch County, four families from Coldwater elementary schools, and 17 families designated by the Department of Human Services in Branch County.
The level of donations this year by the Walmart Distribution Center qualified the Angel Tree program for a Walmart corporate grant of $2,000 for Hospice of Branch County and $5,000 for DHS families. It’s all part of the year round Walmart “Volunteerism Always Pays” concept. For every 25 hours donated by a Walmart worker at the distribution center in Coldwater to help a local organization, the company makes a $250 contribution and in 2015, that added up to over $75,000
