GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Christmas-themed progressive rock ensemble Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) will return to Michigan in December with two shows in Grand Rapids.
Touting two dates at Van Andel arena, TSO will perform twice on Sunday, December 5 – one show at 3:00 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m.
Drummer Jeff Plate spoke with WKZO Wednesday, saying he is happy the group won’t have to do a livestream show this year.
“There’s nothing like a live TSO show, as much as the livestream was a big success for us” Plate said. “Fans loved it, we were glad to do it. We just can’t wait to get back out on the road.”
In addition to the two performances in Grand Rapids, Plate says TSO will be making a comeback with 99 planned shows across the country.
This is made possible by having two different touring groups.
“We have an east coast and a west coast group, so when you hear the amount of shows that we do in that amount of time, it does sound almost impossible, that’s why we have two groups covering it,” Plate said. “But nonetheless, within that seven to eight week period, each group does roughly fifty shows – eight shows in five days every week.”
