DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Lions wrapped up the preseason with a 1-and-3 record after a 35-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns last night at Ford Field.
Quarterback Jake Ruddock got the start and completed 14-of-24 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. QB Matt Cassel connected on four of his 11 pass attempts for 64 yards and an interception.
Dwayne Washington had 20 carries on the night for 67 yards and a score.
Detroit opens the regular season at home in a Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Jets September 10
The Lions will induct defensive tackle Roger Brown, defensive tackle Alex Karras and wide receiver Herman Moore into the Pride of the Lions in October.
Brown was drafted by Detroit in 1960 and was a five-time Pro-Bowl selection. Karras played his entire 12-year career with the Lions, appearing in 161 games after he was drafted in 1958. Moore played in Detroit from 1991-2001 and was the second player in NFL history to have three straight seasons with 100 or more receptions.
The trio will be honored in a halftime ceremony October 28, 2018 against Seattle.
The Pride of the Lions display at Ford Field honors the greatest players in the franchise and includes cornerback Lem Barney, kicker Jason Hanson, cornerback Dick “Night Train” Lane, quarterback Bobby Layne and running back Barry Sanders.
