ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) – After a day off, the Lions return to practice at training camp today. The team made some moves yesterday as they signed free agent offensive tackle Jamar McGloster. McGloster was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Syracuse by the San Francisco 49ers. To make room on the roster, Detroit waived offensive lineman Adam Bisnowaty. According to ESPN, the Lions also worked out veteran linebacker Kelvin Sheppard yesterday. Detroit has nine linebackers on the roster, but Devon Kennard is currently on the non-football injury list and rookie Chad Meredith did not participate in drills Monday with an undisclosed injury.
The Minnesota Vikings are locking up wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The team announced Diggs has signed a contract extension. Terms were not released, but ESPN reports it’s a five-year deal worth a total of 81-million-dollars with more than 40-million guaranteed. Diggs racked up 64 catches for 849 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games last season. The 24-year-old was on the receiving end of the Minneapolis Miracle touchdown catch that sent the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game in January.
The preseason is one day away from beginning. The Chicago Bears take on the Baltimore Ravens in the Hall of Fame Game at Canton, Ohio tomorrow. The enshrinement ceremony is on Saturday.
