COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Statistics posted on the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency web site on Tuesday shows the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Branch County since the pandemic began in March of 2020 has now risen to 105.
The same number of people have died in St. Joseph County while 103 persons have died in Hillsdale County.
According to Health Agency figures, there have been nearly 700 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Branch County since the first of August which included the 17 new cases reported on Tuesday.
The numbers for Tuesday were worse in the other two counties the agency serves as 34 new cases were reported in Hillsdale County and another 64 cases were reported in St. Joseph County.
The Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus have been driving up the number of cases since the middle of July.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March of 2020, there have been 5,398 cases reported in Branch County, 6,465 cases in St. Joseph County and 4,812 cases in Hillsdale County.
