VAN BUREN, MI (WTVB) – A White Pigeon man is scheduled to be formally charged on Thursday in Van Buren County after his vehicle allegedly struck and killed a woman Monday morning.
The name of the 29-year-old suspect is not being released before the arraignment. Among the charges he is facing is vehicular homicide in connection with the death of 64-year-old Melody Rohrer.
Van Buren County Sheriff Dan Abbott says she was reported missing by her husband at 8:15 a.m. Monday morning when she did not return home after going for a walk.
Police gathered evidence and confronted the suspect on Tuesday. He then led police to Rohrer’s body in a wooded area in far northwest St. Joseph County.
According to authorities, Rohrer was hit by a vehicle near a rural intersection in Van Buren County and her body was then moved by the suspect .
