BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s representatives in the Big 8 Conference played valiantly during Week 4 of the Michigan high school football season, but came up short in the win column.
Quincy lost their Homecoming game to Manchester 37-30. Gabe Watson had 9 carries for 88 yards and a rushing touchdown and threw for 130 yards on 4/10 passing. Landon Kelley 16 carries for 88 yards and two scores, and Sam Sawyer finished with 74 yards on 7 carries and a touchdown. Blaine Pish had a team-high 15 tackles as Quincy drops to 0-5. They will try once again for their first win of the season next Friday at Springport.
Homer edged visiting Union City 28-22. Terrance Morgan Jr. and Garrett Iobe racked up 143 rushing yards apiece; Morgan had 26 carries and a touchdown, and Iobe had 27 carries and two scores while also leading the defense with 9 tackles. The Chargers drop to 2-3 overall, 2-2 in the Big 8 and will host Addison next Friday at Alumni Field.
Bronson was shut out for the third straight week, dropping a 37-0 decision at Reading. Since their 50-43 win against Springport back on September 2nd, the Vikings have been outscored in their last three games 142-0. They fall to 1-4 overall, 1-2 in the Big 8, and will host Homer for Homecoming next Friday.
Big 8-leading Jonesville remained undefeated following their 62-6 win against Springport. And in 8-player football, Tekonsha was a 62-24 winner at Burr Oak to improve to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the SCAA Division B.
