ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a pair of motorcycle crashes which took place within about a half hour of one another on Sunday evening.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite reports the most serious crash took place at 7:49 p.m. in the area of U.S. 12 and White School Road in Sturgis Township when a car driven by a 75-year-man from Indiana hit a motorcycle driven by a 25 year old woman from Sturgis.
The Sheriff’s Department says she was heading west on U.S. 12 when the car pulled out into intersection from White School Road.
The driver of the motorcycle was flown by Air Care to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the car were not injured.
The other crash took place about a half hour earlier at 7:21 p.m. on Balk Road near Mintdale Road in Sherman Township when a motorcycle driven by a 33 year old man from Sturgis collided with a deer.
The injured motorcyclist was taken to Sturgis Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
