COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved the introduction of three agreements Monday night for proposed easements in the Garfield Drain.
The City has been collaborating with the Branch County Department of Public Works and Branch County Drain Commissioner Michael Hard on a drain near Garfield Road in hopes of improving drainage in the industrial park area.
City Manager Keith Baker says as part of that upgrade, and to comply with real estate easement practices, easements are being acquiring from the many property owners along the drain.
In support of this drain, the area which is known as the Drainage District has requested two permanent easements and a temporary construction easement on two City owned parcels in Treat Industrial Acres and one parcel in the Plat of Butter’s Industrial Acres No. 1 which is owned by the City of Coldwater.
The three parcels are along Jay Street near Hillside Drive and along Race Street.
Baker says the drain is necessary to stabilize the water drainage in the Garfield Road industrial area to support continued growth.
Final action by the Council is scheduled for November 8.
