QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the winter season schedule tips off tonight with girls basketball including county rivals Coldwater and Quincy facing off in Quincy. We’ll have the game on the radio with our live coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. It will be the debut tonight for new Quincy head coach Ritch Adams, the longtime boys basketball coach for the Orioles who returns after taking off the last three years. He replaces Dana Clark.
Union City also has a new head coach as the Chargers play their opener on the road against Colon. Kerri Adams takes over as coach after Jen Harty stepped down following the 2014-2015 season.
In middle school sports, yesterday in boys basketball, Coldwater’s 8th grade B team was a winner at home over Harper Creek while the 7th grade teams split their games on the road with a victory for the A squad at Harper Creek. The 8th grade team beat the Beavers 44-39 with 13 points for Jacob Carr while Grey Skudlarick had 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Coldwater seventh grade A team was led in scoring by Deandre Douglas with 13 points and Spencer Rodesiler with 12 points. The Cardinal’s B team lost 33-24 with 7 points for Luke Larr.
Also yesterday, the Bronson 8th grade Boys team fell at home to Mendon 48-10 with Graham Eley scoring all of the Vikings’ points in the loss to the Hornets.
