QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Construction work is underway on the Branch County Animal Control Shelter, with hopes it can reopen in early December. The shelter was damaged by fire in May 2015 and has been unusable to house animals. In the interim, dogs are being placed with the Branch County Humane Society and at a temporary facility adjacent to the Branch County Jail.
County Adminstrator Bud Norman says new roof trusses have arrived, with electrical and mechanical work beginning inside. While the original projection was to have the work completed by the end of November, Norman is now hoping for the first full week of December.
