COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former Lakeland Correctional Facility prisoner was arraigned via a video conference Tuesday in Branch County District Court on two charges after he allegedly tried to escape from a prison transportation van that was parked at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital on August 1.
21-year-old Anton Duran Morgan was also accused of attempting to disarm a Michigan Department of Corrections officer as the two struggled during Morgan’s alleged attempt to escape.

Eventually, two other corrections officers as well as local police and the Michigan State Police arrived to provide assistance and to keep Morgan from escaping.
He was later transported back to the Lakeland Correctional Facility. Morgan is now lodged in the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian where he being held on Berrien County convictions for breaking and entering, felony firearms and unarmed robbery.
