COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Apportionment Commission is scheduled to meet Friday afternoon as they continue to work on possibly redrawing County Commissioner districts.
The 2020 U.S. Census showed Branch County had a slight decrease in population to 44,862. But the census showed the population in the City of Coldwater went up to 13,822 which is about a 13 percent increase from the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau estimate and a 26 percent increase from the 2010 Census.
That could affect the number of Branch County Commissioners as the Apportionment Commission is scheduled to review maps on Friday for both five and seven members of the Board of Commissioners.
The number of Branch County Commissioners went from eight to the current number of five ten years ago after the 2010 Census.
