COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The barricades are down and Sauk River Drive in Coldwater has reopened to traffic.
Sauk River Drive between South Sprague and South Willowbrook Road has been closed for five months to through traffic as a water main was replaced and the road was widened and repaved.
The old 10 inch water main has been upgraded to a 16 inch main.
Sauk River Drive now has a dedicated center turn lane added in hopes of improving safety.
The project was budgeted for the 2020-2021 fiscal year with an 80 percent Michigan Department of Transportation grant of up to $375,000 which was awarded to the City of Coldwater in January of 2020. The City’s 20 percent match came out to over $82,000. Work is scheduled to be completed by Friday.

Will the road be striped before winter to make it easier to navigate?
