BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Lady Viking’s last night won another Regional volleyball championship . Bronson’s title victory at home over Schoolcraft in the MHSAA Class C match sends the Lady Vikings onto next week’s quarterfinals to take on Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian at Vicksburg Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
Top-ranked Bronson beat Schoolcraft in 4 games, 25-17-25-23, 26-28, 25-22. Our McDonald’s Player of the Match for Bronson was Alexa Ratkowski, the Lady Vikings do-everything senior setter who finished the night with 63 assists. Allison Sikorski led the way in digs with 17 and shared team-high honors in kills with 15 apiece for Sikorski and Kirin Cekander. And Kiera Lasky paced the team in blocks with 15, helping the Lady Vikings improve their record this season to 54-10-3.
Bronson is aiming to return to the Finals for the first time since 2009 when they won the Class C State Title. Their opponent next Tuesday in the Elite Eight, NorthPointe Christian, captured their first Regional crown since 1999 last night with the Mustangs defeating Montague 3-1. Bronson beat Northpointe in tournament play earlier this season.
Whichever team wins in the quarterfinals Tuesday at Vicksburg will punch their ticket to Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek and a 2 p.m. semifinal match Friday afternoon.
