COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Apportionment Commission is expected to make final decisions Friday afternoon on County Commissioner districts.
Their meeting at the Branch County Courthouse is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m..
Five maps have been submitted for consideration. Three of the maps keep the number of County Commissioners at five while the other two expand the Board of Commissioners to seven.
The Commission has been meeting in recent works following the 2020 U.S. Census which showed Branch County had a slight decrease in population to 44,862.
But the census showed the population in the City of Coldwater went up to 13,822 which is about a 13 percent increase from the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau estimate and a 26 percent increase from the 2010 Census.
The number of Branch County Commissioners went from eight to the current number of five ten years ago after the 2010 Census.
