BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A life-saving medical rescue in Branch County that demonstrated the value of coordinated cooperation between Public Safety agencies was showcased last night at a meeting of the Bronson City Council. Bronson Police Officer Scott Bogard, along with Bronson Fire Deputy Chief Ken Stutzman and Michigan State Trooper Kyle Sherwood, were each presented a Meritorious Life Saving Award by Bronson Police Chief Stephen Johnson.
About two months ago, during the very early morning hours of September 15, 2015, Officer Bogard rushed to the scene after fifteen-year-old Logan Roberts was found to be unresponsive by his grandmother. Roberts was not breathing upon Officer Bogard’s arrival. Bogard immediately began CPR. Stutzman and Trooper Sherwood arrived and assisted Bogard in his life saving efforts. Roberts was successfully revived and later flown by helicopter to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The staff at Bronson Hospital credited the quick action of emergency responders as crucial in saving the teenager’s life. Roberts is doing well and continues to recover.
