COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An upcoming vacancy on the Coldwater City Council is set to be filled following action at last night’s regular meeting of the Council. First Ward Councilman Tim Miller announced last month he planned to step down effective November 23, 2015 after serving on the Council since 2001.
Last night, Miller’s fellow First Ward Councilman Cisco Ortiz recommended and the Council agreed that Travis Machan be appointed to fill out the remaining 2 years of Miller’s 4 year term. Machan has been a resident of Coldwater for the past 16 years. Machan and his wife Rhonda have 3 children, with Travis employed by the Branch Intermediate School District and Rhonda a teacher with Coldwater Community Schools. Ortiz said they’re both involved in community events and sports for their family.
Machan is scheduled to take his First Ward seat on the Council in two weeks. In a brief agenda last night, the Coldwater City Council also approved a pair of necessary procedural items in the ongoing list of required resolutions leading up to the Fall 2017 opening of the $255 million Clemens pork processing production facility north of Newton Road in Coldwater Township.
The Council also appointed Councilwoman Maureen Petzko Mayor Pro-Tem for another 2 year term.
