Obama’s rejection of Keystone XL pipeline stirs sharp criticism from Walberg

WASHINGTON, DC (WTVB) – The President’s rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline came as no surprise just as it was no surprise the White House action was sharply criticized by Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg. The Seventh District Republican lawmaker said after 7 years of hearing of strong support for Keystone from labor unions to small business owners, the President, according to Walberg, simply got this decision wrong. He called the move short sighted and said it illustrates that the President is not focused on increasing America’s energy security and boosting job creation. Under increased pressure from Democrats and environmental groups to reject Keystone before the Paris climate talks next month, Mr. Obama said the pipeline would not serve the national interest and would not create jobs or cheaper gas. The controversial project would have connected the oil sands of Alberta to Nebraska.
