COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Road Commission crews were kept busy Friday morning for several hours starting around 6 a.m. when they were called to nearly a dozen scattered locations around the county to help remove trees and limbs that came down and blocked roads. The situation also included a few downed wires and tied up Sheriff’s deputies and State troopers for a time.
The problem arrived with the gusty winds that accompanied the passage of a cold front that pushed through, bringing an end to three straight days of unseasonably warm temperatures.
A couple of isolated Consumers Energy power outages were reported as well. Tuesday and Wednesday, it reached 75 degrees and yesterday, the official high was 71 degrees. Wind gusts out of the west of at least 30 mph were recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport.
