COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A promising future awaits the Coldwater Legg Middle School October student of the month.
The recognition this week for 8th grader Rylie VanAken came Wednesday when she received a framed Young Citizenship Award presented by the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club.
The L.M.S. teaching staff nominated her for the award, saying she exhibits all of the traits that make a stand out student and a great person.
Judy Cumming of the Exchange Club said Riley shows that she cares for others and is always willing to help her fellow student.
Cumming added that Riley demonstrates that she cares for others, is always willing to help her fellow students, is trustworthy, dependable, and kind while going out of her way to make Legg Middle School a better place.
VanAken plays volleyball, basketball and softball and is on travel teams for both basketball and softball and her goals include attending Washington University and playing on the school’s softball team.
Riley, who is undecided on a career path, is the daughter of Amy and Ryan VanAken.
