BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County man suffered a serious wound to his left hand with an apparent accidental gunshot injury yesterday afternoon. Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the 300 block of Nash Road in Batavia Township where they discovered the 57-year old victim had sustained significant injuries.
The man told the deputies he was cleaning his 9mm handgun and wasn’t aware a round was in the chamber and it discharged. He was taken by LifeCare ambulance to the nearby Branch County Memorial Airport where a Good Samaritan Helicopter had landed and later flew him to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne. There’s no word on his condition and his name wasn’t released.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, alcohol was not a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
