UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Due to what is being called a concerning level of illness, Union City High School will transition to distance learning for this week.
The Union City Elementary and Middle Schools will still have in-person instruction, as the district says high illness rate is currently isolated in the high school building.
This comes after all of the schools in the district were shut down on last Tuesday due to a large number of staff members who were absent with illness.
Students were told that attendance to each class period is required in order to meet the attendance rate required by the state or else the district will need to extend the length of the school year to make up the missed days in June.
Students without internet will report to the high school and work in a classroom under the supervision of a building paraprofessionals.
With the middle and elementary schools operating, buses will continue to run on their regular schedules.
Students will continue to be transported to the CACC and Math and Science Center.
High school students in need of meals can pick up take home meals each day between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m..
