COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Road closings and street blockades in the City of Coldwater for sewer and water pipe projects over the past 6 weeks have been mostly a matter of inconvenience for many but for one day today, it’s much more than that for the St. Charles Borromeo School and the Branch Area Food Pantry. Both are closed today because of water service being shut off for the majority of the day while a big piece of the pipe work for Pierson Street is taken care of.
Coldwater City Manager Jeff Budd says progress is picking for both Pierson and Montgomery Streets with most of the individual water servers hooked up and the storm sewers are next and once they’re running again, the crews will still be on track to hopefully have those streets all paved by November 15. According to Budd, Pearl Street has been a little slower although the new storm pipe has nearly all been installed. Then they will get right back to the Clay Street intersection and take the water and sanitary eastward and that should then open up the intersection.
Budd admits it’s slow going but says don’t forget they are having to move very large concrete pipes and that means it can’t be done quickly.
