QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the only event on Monday’s schedule was Quincy boys soccer and the Orioles lost 8-0 at Jackson Christian, dropping their Independent Soccer League record to 2-7-1.
Tonight in high school sports, in boys soccer, Coldwater hosts Parma Western in the first round of the Interstate 8 Gold Division Tournament. The varsity match is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. following the JV game which starts at 5 p.m. The Cardinals are ranked 10th this week in the latest Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division Two poll. In volleyball, it’s Quincy at Reading and Union City at Jonesville. This afternoon in cross country, Coldwater’s Division Two 6th ranked Cardinals host an Interstate 8 Jamboree at the Coldwater Golf Course. Also, Quincy and Union City run at the Concord Jamboree while Bronson is at Berrien Springs. In girls swimming, Coldwater is at Eaton Rapids for a tri-meet with Marshall.
In football, the undefeated Coldwater Cardinals continue to move up in the rankings. Coldwater improved from 9th to 7th place in this week’s Michigan Associated Press Division 3 poll. The 7-0 Cardinals, who clinched at least a share of the Interstate Eight Conference crown with their win last weekend at Harper Creek, will shoot for an outright league title when they host Charlotte on Friday. Taking Coldwater’s place in the poll at number nine were the Marshall Redhawks, who are 6-1 and have won five in-a-row since a 9-7 Week Two loss to the Cardinals.
In volleyball, Bronson this week is again ranked number one in the state in Class-C in the latest Coaches Association poll released on Monday.
