COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Construction has started with completion slated for next spring for the Harbor Cove RV Resort along South Lake on Coldwater’s west side. The site plan for the project that will have 200 campsites was just given final approval at Monday night’s meeting of the Coldwater City Planning Commission.
There was some opposition expressed before approval of the conditional site plan on a vote of 7-0 for the 30 acre park located off Race Street. There was more than an hour of discussion on the project at Monday’s public hearing. Primary concerns centered around the impact to four residences in Coldwater Township on Garfield Road that back up to the park, additional traffic created on Race Street, potential environmental issues and additional boat docks and lake traffic.
The majority of the campsites will be rented on a seasonal basis similar to that at the Waffle Farm Campground next to Craig Lake north of Coldwater.
