DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Forty three percent of deer-vehicle crashes occur during the months of October, November, and December, and with nearly 600,000 hunters starting out for the firearm deer season Monday, AAA Michigan reminds those on the roads to remember to stay safe.
Drivers should stay awake and alert while driving, always wear a seat belt, be especially alert at dusk and dawn when deer are on the move, and remember that if you see one deer, there are most likely more in the area.
Also, AAA says to never swerve if you’re faced with a deer in the road.
Instead, brake firmly, stay in your lane, keep hold of the steering wheel, and bring the vehicle to a controlled stop.
