Ilene Harter, 75, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater at 12 noon. Interment will take place in Batavia Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive guests for visitation Monday, November 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
She was born July 17, 1946 to James and Curtis (Howard) Prater in Magoffen, KY. Ilene was a determined woman that worked a career in manufacturing at the Midwest Foundry, Coldwater Brass, and Quality Springs. Though she was hard working, Ilene also made sure to find her joys in life which were singing in church, listening to gospel music, painting, crocheting, and her passion for animals; but above all, Ilene adored her children. Ilene will be dearly missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Ilene leaves behind her children William “Terry” (Debra) Cole of Battle Creek, Bobby (Kathy Moon) Cole of Ray, MI, Harold Harter of Athens; her siblings Harold Prater of Coldwater, Bernice Younger of Coldwater, Edazene Owens of London, KY, Sandra Dee Peet of MI, Garner Lewis, Linda Lou Bailey, Vivian Sue Prater, Norma Jean, Doug Prater, James Prater Jr., Lester Prater, Walter Prater all of KY; her grandchildren Kristina Norris, Brandon Cole, KC Cole, Tommy Moon, Dana Moon; great grandchildren Mylee Norris, Gavin Norris, Ruben Norris, Kade Norris, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Myrtle Ellen Whitaker.
Memorial donations may be made to the Branch County Humane Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
