QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Like some other school districts in the area that have been battling COVID-19 and other illnesses, the Quincy Community School district has decided to extend Thanksgiving break.
The district announced on its Facebook page last Friday that there will be no school this Wednesday thus giving students and staff a five day holiday break.
A half day of classes were already scheduled for Wednesday in the Coldwater, Union City and Bronson school districts.
Pansophia Academy decided to start their Thanksgiving break a day earlier than originally scheduled as they shut down last Friday.
Schools in Fremont, Indiana will be closed Monday and Tuesday thus giving students and staff in that district the entire week off.
A rising number of COVID-19 cases and other illnesses, combined with the lack of substitute teachers, is forcing a number of area school district to close their doors ahead of the normal Thanksgiving holiday break.
Several Southwest Michigan districts including Plainwell, Zeeland, Hamilton, Holland, Hopkins and Otsego decided to shut down for the entire week.
