Betty May Myers, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family November 26, 2021 at Maple Lawn Medical Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Coldwater.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Dutcher Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lawrence Wilson Cemetery in Branch County.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
She was born August 8, 1927 in Butler Township, Michigan to Clark and Mildred (Frey) VanOrthwick. She married N. Dale Myers on September 15, 1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Betty graduated from Coldwater High School in 1945. She was employed by the Coldwater State Home for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed bowling, dress making, knitting, crocheting, basket making, chair caning, weaving, quilling, macramé, tatting, sewing and numerous other crafts. She was a 50-year plus member of the United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the Martha Circle. Betty was a 4-H leader for several years and taught knitting to many young girls.
In the early 80s, Betty and Dale built their retirement home on the channel near Bartholomew Lake, where they enjoyed pontoon boat rides and time with family. Along with many family vacations across the country when the children were young, she has special memories of her Alaskan cruise with her husband, Dale, and an extended vacation to Canada with her sister, Edna.
Survivors include children Thomas (Doris) Myers of Charlotte, Jerry (JoAnn) Myers of Coldwater, Linda Myers of Marshall; grandchildren Michelle (Bob) Woodburn, Amy (Robert) Holman, Greg (Dana) Myers, Steve (Hillary) Myers, Jennifer Myers, Matt Myers; great-grandchildren Ashley (Cory) Gross, Geoffrey Kirklin, Hannah (Tyler) Quader, Caitlin (Ryan) Kohlhoff, Mackenzie Myers, Ava Myers, Connor Myers, Ethan Myers; great-great-grandchildren Lucas Kirklin, Noah Kirklin, Sydney Gross, Elliot Kirklin, Avery Gross, and her mischievous cat.
Betty was preceded in death by husband Dale, her parents, sisters Edna Couse and Lucille VanOrthwick, daughter Carol (Michael) Myers-Enos, grandson Thomas R. Myers, son-in-law Dr. Harry Marshall, and nephew Rex Smith.
