COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There were 200 vehicles that dropped off hazardous waste on September 25 during the City of Coldwater’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at the Branch County Fairgrounds which was the lowest amount of vehicles in at least eight years.
There were 212 vehicles in 2020, 204 in 2019 and 312 in 2018. The amount of material collected came in at 16,196 pounds which was down from the 22,016 pounds collected in 2020.
Oil-based paint was the most collected item as 3,042 pounds were dropped off. The second highest item was motor oil at 2,854 pounds.
Besides residents in the Cities of Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy, those who live in Algansee, Bethel, Bronson, Coldwater, Ovid, Quincy, Union and Kinderhook Townships were allowed to take part along.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day takes place annually and gives local residents a chance to dispose of the assorted hazardous waste in their homes free of charge.
