CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – There has been an arrest in a haunting cold case out of St. Joseph County. A few weeks ago, we reported that Investigators were going to play a long-shot and have the DNA of 65-year-old Daniel Furlong of Centerville tested to see if it matched evidence found on the body of Jodi Parrack 8-years-ago. They had tested just about everyone else who would have been inclined to attack a very young girl, and many others who just lived in the area.
Until Furlong was arrested for luring a young girl into his garage in July and attempting to tie her up, he just wasn’t on anyone’s radar. Now, that long shot has paid off because the DNA matched and it brings a surprisingly quick ending to an investigation that has dragged on for years.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough announced the arrest late Thursday afternoon and said Furlong has been charged with open murder, felony murder, kidnapping and 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. Bond was denied.
