BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County boys high school basketball season gets underway on Tuesday night with two games involving county schools.
Bronson opens their season at Battle Creek St. Philip while Quincy will host Waldron.
Union City’s home game with Olivet which was originally scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to Wednesday night.
Coldwater won’t open their season until Friday when they will host Jackson Lumen Christi.
In girls basketball, Bronson and Union City will be in action on Tuesday night. The Vikings will try to go to 2-0 with a home game against Springport while Union City plays at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix. The Chargers are 1-1.
Quincy was scheduled to play at Maple Valley on Monday night but the game was cancelled after the Maple Valley school district received information during the morning that there were rumors of a threat of gun violence. Maple Valley schools were dismissed early and all extracurricular activities were cancelled for the day and night. It was later determined following an investigation the threat came from social media outside of the Maple Valley community.
