DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Andreas Athanasiou scored twice in the third period as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 Sunday.
Athanasiou broke a 1-all tie with a power play goal at 7:10 of the third and then sealed it with an empty-netter in the final minute.
Brendan Perlini opened the scoring in the second period for the Red Wings, who have won two-of-three on the heels of a nine-game skid. Jonathan Bernier made 39 saves in the victory.
Torey Krug scored the lone goal 33-seconds into the third period for Boston, which had its six-game winning streak snapped. Tuukka Rask allowed two goals on 19 shots in defeat.
The Red Wings skate at Buffalo tomorrow.
