COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Community Health Center of Branch County is taking an aggressive time line to possibly complete a management and sale agreement to have the hospital acquired by a Toledo-based non-profit group by January 1, 2016. Any sale, which would be structured over 3 years, first needs approval from Branch County Commissioners, who yesterday received an update on the situation from CHC President and CEO Randy DeGroot. He said a public meeting on the proposed deal with ProMedica Health Systems is set for October 19, 2015 at the hospital’s Community Care and Conference Center.
According to DeGroot, assuming a positive outcome at that session, the CHC Board of Trustees would then take up the question at its October 26 meeting. He said the goal is to turn over the matter to County Commissioners for consideration in November.
DeGroot concluded by stating that with the current developments, uncertainty at CHC doesn’t get the hospital anywhere so to move as fast as they can with ProMedica Health and still do it judiciously is what they want to achieve.
