COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The start of a new school year next week will mark the second year of teaching robotics at the Branch Area Careers Center in Coldwater with learning about the growing trend in manufacturing ready take hold in other schools in the county. Mike Hoffner, principal at the Careers Center, says robotics is the prime example of what’s being touted educationally in Michigan, the STEM program, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Hoffner says robotics lessons have already become part of the coursework in Bronson and Quincy and they’re looking at pursuing the same direction in Coldwater. According to Hoffner, it can afford students the opportunity to get a national certification that is applicable anywhere for those pursuing degrees in engineering.
Overall, students at the Careers Center have 15 various programs to choose from in every different pathway in career and technical education.
